Another win for the Fens! An away win at that!

 

The Fens ground out a 1-0 win away to Celtic Park in a sunny Beaumont yesterday. Celtic Park are currently in second place in the league and this is their first defeat this season at home. Well done to everybody yesterday. It was great to see so many Fenfans out on the sideline cheering on the boys in blue....and white. Its not often the away side has more support on the line than the home team!

 

The goal came from our man of the match Paul Lawless a.k.a. Lolly! The ball broke in the box and Lolly pounced knocking it under the advancing keeper to put the Fens 1-0 up early in the first half.

 

In reality the fens probably deserved to get a second goal on the quality of the play but that goal never came. As a result the Fens had to grind out the win. There were nervous moments when Celtic Park got two free kicks on the edge of our box but the defence held firm and Fens got their just rewards!

 

"Grinding Out" a win is not something we have done much of lately. Many of our wins have been convincing so it was great to see the team put in a performance which showed lots of heart, determination and a great attitude.
