Player Profiles

Gary GS Symes has been with Fens since 2010-2011 season. Gary started out as a striker for Fens scoring some important goals none more important than the one he got against the arch rivals Kilmore when he roasted Charlie Kinsella and slotted home from a tight angle . Gary is known for his close control and they way he can score goals with his left or right foot no bother to him. This season things changed for Gary when he decided to play in goal. As you can see in the picture below Gary getting his cake at probably eating it all by himself he is Fens number one keeper when he gets up for the matches. He has kept the most amount of clean sheets this season. If he gets his fitness up there just might be a place up front in the second team and with the goals he can score he would be a great addition to the team. . Wherever he plays for Fens he adds something to the team we just haven't found out what that is. You decide from the pictures below what Gary's best position is

Anto BFG Ayton is one of Fens longest serving players this is his fourth season for Fens and his is still not even twenty one. The nick name big friendly giant suits him down to a tee. You couldn't meet a nicer lad than anto but he is over seven foot tall and he his still growing. Anto plays at centre half and has shined for both the first and second team. He is currently the second team captain. For his size you would think he scores a lot of goals with his head but he has actually scored more with his feet than his head. He is know for make his mazy runs down the flank at least twice a season. With Anto been young and dedicated to Fens he should be at the club for many years to come. Sure he wouldn't be aloud to leave even if he wanted to. This club has long standing ties to the Ayton family with his dad and his uncle Dave playing for Fens for many years. While his two older cousins have also played for the club Rob is still playing and we are working on getting Mark back from injury. So the BFG will be captain for the second team as long as those big tree trunks can hold him up.

John MOSES Donlon. It was John destiny to play for Fens as soon as John Gray married his sister. Once you are a male and are some way related to the Grey family you are playing for Fens weather you like it or not. John first played for Fens when he was brought out when Fens where in the top division four seasons ago. He really only started to play week in week out last season and he hasn't let the team down once. You can put him any where on the pitch and he will do the job he has to and he never complains. Some people think John is in the twilight of his career since he looks in his forty's but he is actually only twenty eight. John has been great this season for the second team an he finally ended up on a winning team when Darren Whelan took charge of the second team. John had played nearly twenty games for Fens before he got his first win. Some say its  like the Gareth Bale story we are hoping that John can produce some performances just like bale so he can finally get a goal for Fens.

James THE TOOTH FAIRY Carley joined Fens at the tail end of the 2010-2011 season where he played in the midfield. This season has see James been called up to the first team squad but he just couldn't break into what has to be said a very solid team. James got his nick name when in training he knocked out one of his team mates front tooth. The name actually suits James as you can see from the picture below. James started as a winger for Fens but under new management in the second team he has been converted  to centre half and he has been outstanding so far in his new position. Here is hoping with James and the centre of the Fens defence the second team can kick on next season as in recent weeks the second team have been on a good run.

Philip MULLZINIO Mulligan is a new player to join fenstanton and another player from the TOP SCHEME in coolock!!  Phil is as SOLID as they come he is like a brick wall at the back theres very few people to go through him and come out the other side alive. He wins absolutely every header he goes for and hurts everyone challenging in the process. hes got quick feet and some tricks up his sleeves and knows how to pick a pass long and short. Phil didnt walk into the starting line up he BARGED his way into it with consistent performances in training and pre-season. Phil provides the strength needed at the back of the fens defence and will help the team to progress in the right direction.

Andrew PANCH O Hanlon is one of fens newest and youngest players at the ripe age of 19. Panch brings alot to the team including his skills and previous experience in a top division with St.Kevins Fc where he played alongside manchester united player robbie brady. panch has serious moves and pace and he can turn defenders inside out with ease. with a strong left and right foot panch can shoot from anywhere and cause keepers hassle. panch has a couple of goals under his belt but hasnt hit top scoring form just yet due to a recent ankle injury that has seen him out of action for a couple of months although he is back in training and recovering fast he should make his way back into the starting line up in no time.

Darren MULLDOON Mulligan is a yet another signing in in the 2010/2011 season. Hes a natural striker but has been used many times as a winger and has done extremely well although Mullo has not sealed a place in the starting 11 but he is within touching distance of doing so. He has been terrorizing defenders in training banging in goals left right and centre and has made a couple of appearances off the bench and helped fens secure wins. Mullo has found the net this season once in the league and once in pre season both fantastically taken goals. Mullo is known for finding the net in the most tightest angles. hopefully Mullo can find his feet and get that starting place and bang in the goals we know he is capable of getting!!

Sean STRETCH Nolan is one of fens long serving club members and although he doesn't look it Sean is the oldest player currently playing for the club even older than johnny gray. Sean is a valuable member of the club has has been one of the reasons the club has stayed alive by continually scouting for young fresh talent every week. Sean's height is the main reason he is compared to peter crouch but he also craves dance music and loves to show off his robot dancing skills and then his goals. His missus claims he looks like Figo but we all know Sean isn't than good looking. Sean's goal scoring record has went from Lionel Messi to a more Emile Heskey as he grows older but saying that he has scored many crucial goals over his career to help fens to where they are today. Sean will go down in the history books as a legend and an inspiration to future fens players...

Stephen GALLY Gallagher is yet another one of fenstantons new additions as he joined in the 2011 season. Gally has burst on the scene in style and has a number of assists and a goal so far. often been compared to Karim Benzema for his cool style of attacking play Gally has a numerous amount of tricks and flicks which he does weekly and leaves defenders dazzled. he also has a serious bit of pace in his rocket shots and is capable from scoring all over the pitch... except on the line (against wyteleaf). Gally links up well with all the other strikers and his unselfishness allows his team-mates to grab the headlines while he remains an unsung hero....

Keith DEZ Ryan AKA DEZY NO HAIR THE WEE HAIR. the nickname Dez comes from eh... well... nobody knows not even Dez. He joined fens in the 2011 season and what a season a debut season he is having with 3 goals in the current campain. Dez has secured a place in the starting 11 and is a versatile player who can play on either wings or the right back position. unfortunately he has been hit with an injury which has seen him sidelined for the last few weeks but dez is currently undergoing a rehabilitation process which will see him back soon.. according to moonball dez is the most handsome fens player and has a certain swag about his play. we look forward to dez's return and wish him the best with his recovery.....

Darren MACKER McNamee signed for Fens in the 2010-2011 season. Macker is know for his wicked left foot. He can play left Midfield up front or even his most hated position left full. Macker has been in and out of the first team   for the last two seasons he is a very good player but sometimes he finds it hard to overcome his addictions as seen in the picture below. But in all honestly Macker works extremely hard in training and matches when he plays. macker is a student studying sport where he is gaining some extra knowledge and fitness which will bwccome beneficial to working his way into a regular spot on the team. He has come close a couple of times to breaking his duck for Fens no more so when he scored a sublime finish against Clontarf only for it to be wrongly ruled offside. Macker has stated that this season he will find the net with his trusty left peg and he has the full fens squad behind him!!!!! 100%

Alan THE BABY FACE ASSEN Myler was Fens big money January signing. He came to Fens with a big reputation and he doesn't mind telling people about it. The big question was could Myler live up to the hype after a few weeks of gruelling training  and a few postponed games Myler finally got his chance to show what he could do and he didn't let us down. One start one goal a good start for Myler. Hears hoping he can form a great partnership with Bucko and they both fire Fens to some silverware this season. now that we have seen myler in action and seen his amazing skills and neat finishes were going to talk about a long term contract and possible a pay rise.

Paul LOLLY Lawless AKA the SILENT ASSASIN!!! One of the more sensible footballers of the fens team Lolly is COOL, CALM and COLLECTIVE all the skills needed to be a top baller. Lolly mite be quiet on the pitch in voice but he allows he feet to do all the talking and with 6 goals in this current campaign he is the 2nd highest goal scorer. Lolly joined fens in the 2009-2010 season and has been a first team regular since day one. The amount of goals that Lolly has scored this season is no fluke. As last season he scored 8 goals and set up countless more.He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Hopefully Lolly can keep up his scoring streak and lead Fens towards some silverware this season.

Kevin THE HEART Harty the nickname comes from him being the HEART and SOUL of the team. Harty is only LETHAL in the centre of midfield with his solid passes both long and short. Harty has often been compared to Claude Makelele with his SOLIDNESS in defensive duties aswell as attack. Harty is the clubs current assistant captain and a serious machine of a player. Harty has been described by some of his fellow teammates as the agro head of midfield due to his ability to scream and shout on the filed. Harty is a very consistent player and rarely has an off day. He joined the fens in mid-season in 2010-2011 and has helped the fens side become HD and he will play a crucial role in the title challenge this season.

Laurence LAR Baker joined fenstanton in 2010-2011 season he played for the second string team last season and turned in some eye catching performances which propelled him to the first team this season  and has secured a starting place on the team straight away not like his hero fernando torress. Lar has played a crucial role in helping the team to secure a top 3 postion in the league with his SERIOUS pace and PIN POINT crosses. Lar is the fastest player to pull on the fens jersey and roasts defenders ALL DAY. Lar has had a fantastic season so far with a couple of goals and a numerous amount of assists. according to a poll on the fens facebook page Lar is in contention for the most consistent player this season so far which could mean he could be one to watch for the player of the year award. Lar will continue to play well this season without a doubt and will hopefully help fens bring home some silverware.

Matt KIT KAT Kelly or SKILLZ joined Fens in the 2010-2011 season. Matt is known for his quick feet and silky skills on the ball he has these trates due to playing ball on the streets of England as a child.. Matt isn't afraid to put his foot in when needed of an elbow at that, he likes a good old 50/50 challenge which nine times out of ten he will win. Matt came to Fens with the rest of the boys from Kilmore but in fact Matt is from Woodlawn. To his credit he likes nothing more than giving Woodlawn a good spanking so he can give the lads from Woodlawn a bit of stick. If he gets a chance on the pitch he loves to let fly with his trusty left foot that's if BUCKO WILL EVER PASS THE BALL. Matt has been in good form this season creating a few goals and scoring one himself and will be a major asset in the fens title challenge 'providing he stays sober'.

Johnny
OLD MAN Gray is the heart and sole of fenstanton f.c. He is playing for the club over 20 years in his famous left back position and is the longest serving fens player. Johnny is the Ryan Giggs of the club as he is still playing at the young age of 38. he is most famous for his constant goal scoring directly from a corner kick, over the years johnny has mastered the art of curling the ball in from that angle. johnny has been the best captain fenstanton has ever seen and finally decided to pass the torch for the 2011 season. johnny takes up many roles including assistant manager and THE SUB COLLECTOR. johnny has made fens history with his long spell in the team and will continue to play at the club as he is still playing good eye catching football and with the magic left foot of his i couldn't imagine he will be finished anytime soon.

Pauly BIG BANG Kirwan or Captain Fantastic joined Fens in the 2010-2011 season he is a versatile player who can play at centre half centre midfield or his favourite position right back. Pauly is know for his darting runs down the right flank he creates a lot of chances for his team mates. He is also know for putting the ball in the net EVEN IF SOMETIMES IT IS HIS OWN. Pauly received the honour of player of the year last year which is a great achievement considering the players he beat for the prize. Things got even better for PK this season when he took over as club captain from the very long serving Johnny OLD MAN Gray. With Pauly as captain things have got even better for Fens with his inspired leadership the mighty Fens have had a great start to 2012 and with him still in his prime hopefully the Fens can have many more great seasons with PK as captain.

Darren FOX IN THE BOX WHELAN is one of the long serving fens players. he has played a crucial role in the past few seasons as KEEPER/STRIKER two completely different difficult positions but ones whelo handles well. His never say die attitude has seen him come off the bench to help fens to a 2-1 win over a strong st. Johnstown side last season. often compare to the likes of ole gunner solskajer he has the mentality and ability to change games. His role as goalkeeper however has had its ups and downs. he has saved penaltys, free kicks and one on ones but as a keeper he has been compared to GOMEZ the spurs keeper for his consistency in dropping the ball and it rolling under his legs. Darren's one of fens most valuable members as he also plays the role of 'SEXY' CLUB SECRETARY and helps manage the finances. 'IN WHELO WE TRUST'

Brian BUCKETELLI Buckley started with fens in the 2010-2011 season. In his first season he made fens history by becoming top goal scorer in his debut season. Bucko has often been compared to Mario Ballotelli for his on field actions and attitude towards referees and linesman. Bucko has a top record in scoring goals and is looking the hot favorite to become the top goal scorer for successive seasons. Known for wearing his Chelsea shorts and socks week in week out without fail Bucko dances around the ball and leaves defenders for dust. His free kicks are LETHAL and the more tape he wears the more goals he scores FACT!!!!

Aaron Rafael Duffy started with in the 2009-2010 season. In his first season he won the player of the year award in only half a season with the club. In his second season he left for pastures new in Canada but came running back to Fens to lead the back line again. This season has been a strong season for Rafael with some good displays except against his bogey team Tracta. Here is hoping that Rafael can get back to his early season form.

Leon Fabio Duffy started with Fens in the 2010-2011 season a creative speedy full back or winger. Last season he scored 6 goals for Fens in a great debut season. This season has seen him crippled with a groin injury but is on the fringes of a comeback. He still boasts a better scoring record than his twin brother as Rafael has still failed to find the net for the Fens.
